In meetings this week the NFL continues to deal with arguments surrounding their drug testing procedures. Although adamant and supportive about keeping recreational drugs out of the sport, the NFL still appears to be far more laxed in regards to performance enhancing drugs. The league is doing all it can to keep the issue out of the courts but the ongoing case involving Pat and Kevin Williams seems destined to end up before yet another congressional hearing; just another waste of tax payers’ money yet again.
When it comes to direct drug testing in the NFL for performance enhancing drugs, league officials have announced they will allow for independent bodies to aid in the process, perhaps even the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) at least this is an idea that has been mentioned but one has to question the NFL’s desire to allow such an origination to be a part of their drug testing procedures, especially one like the WADA. Groups such as the WADA would in-fact bring about far stricter guidelines and testing procedures and let’s be honest, when it comes to the NFL, that’s bad for business.
